Sargassum invasion has been a relentless threat to Cancun’s paradise beaches since 2015, jeopardizing the tourism industry and the local leisure activits. With this challenge worsening in 2018, the need for effective intervention has become more critical than ever.

Given the magnitude of this problem, Flexprin Marine was the strategic choice of one of the leading hotel chains for the design and implementation of a complete and innovative solution. Using our expertise in production engineering and years of experience in complex environmental projects, we have developed a unique integrated system for the containment and management of sargassum.

Our innovative solution involved installing more than 5,000 meters of customized containment barriers, designed specifically for this ecosystem. In addition to preventing seaweed from reaching the beaches, these barriers have enabled an efficient method of collecting and disposing of the sargassum, preserving the region’s tourist appeal and protecting the environment.

The period between 2019 and 2022 marked Flexprin Marine’s success in turning an environmental crisis into a success story. We demonstrated not only ability to respond quickly, but also commitment, innovation and environmental sustainability.
